Rafael Sandiego
My contact with Arts starts in the mid-60's when four British stormed America since HELP to imagine in the 70's. I started playing guitar when a fellow high school play "Light My Fire" in his guitar. These Brazilian chords of the Bossa Nova and the harmonies of The Mamas and the Papas of the Phillips family, TheDoors, The Rolling Stones or Herb Albert with his Tijuana Brass.Fascinated , that a great artist like him had chosen the name of a city so close to Mexico where I grew up.
The odd thing was that I never understood the lyrics or the singing, because I did not speak English, was the music that penetrated my senses.
Musically, there were two styles that made a deep footprint in me : The Tijuana Brass and the author of the Mexican Mariachi songs Ruben Fuentes a true masterful work "How beautiful my country is." (Que bonita es mi tierra)
These were two concepts that I said, the music mixing of styles and the breaking of the traditional mental barriers and thinking outside of the box were possible. Another type of music that I love is like the Flemish brothers Agujeta (Los hermanos Agujeta)among other great singers.
So I started creating my first songs, and at 17 I had already sung my compositions, with a sold out theater in Mexicali, the town where I grew up, standing with the public applauded.
After I won a contest sponsored by the State Administration to create a song to Baja California, is the state that borders California, which I had the fortune to win. After making local presentations to promote my music with my group, opened the shows of Julio Iglesias in a Casino and Sergio Mendez in the bullring "Calafia in Mexicali.
With those times, I became a founding member of the "Rondalla del Valle" nowadays sponsored by the Autonomous University of Baja California, which have emerged over seven generations of Rondalleros.
Would take several years to publish my songs including the recording of Los Angeles in California and Mexico City,
I succeeded and closed that cycle of my life, and started writing Fictional Ecological Poetry (Eco-poesía de ficción)
One afternoon, while in Tijuana in 1984, at a cafe called " Guiri güiri," chatting with the owner of the place, Sergio Dueñas, and other friends, including The Sr.Periodista Victor Batista, writer for the Arts & entertainment section of the weekly newspaper ZETA , Victor suggested me to use the pseudonym Rafael Sandiego which I've been using it since then.
writing poetry, has been by chance, when I was reading the website of the Mexican daily "Milenio " found a section called Taller Lieteraio MIlenio, a literary workshop , it is here where I met my teacher and friend Modesto Herrera. Somehow I refused to write my resume, because I am not a famous painter and writer, I have not published any book or won a big prize since then. In fact, I write for an ideal, the ideal of not having to be famous for writing, or wait until you have won a Nobel Prize for literature in trying to write a compound word that is not in the dictionary, write what is in what I get, what I feel or what I read. I think being a writer who writes for Grace and not under the law of the harrasing metric of classical writing. My mother once told me: mihijito, "there is no one above you, and nobody below you, you never forget it ." And I never forgot that statement.
I know that I have no rhythm in my writing, nor do I master in free verse or Italian rhyme neither prose nor sonnet or Haiku, or tenths, or anything, I'm just here with my humble work if you need it for something, I will be here until I am no longer needed.
Anyway, here is a young one with 53 now, together for 22 with my couple, the beautiful Lorein. Here is a young at heart and spirit that was born in California, who grew up and studied in Mexicali, México, and whom appreciate the opportunity to accompany some of Your Paintings and works, masterpieces for me, in a project sensibilizARTE, it has a purpose, which is worth all the effort and all we can do to create awareness in favor of a free zone of all thought and creation of a free life for life.
Thank you
Rafael Sandiego

pessoas indefesas nas mãos de governos...
